Summary

We had no warning that she’d come back。

Hollow’s Edge used to be a quiet place。 A private and idyllic neighborhood where neighbors dropped in on neighbors, celebrated graduation and holiday parties together, and looked out for one another。 But then came the murder of Brandon and Fiona Truett。 A year and a half later, Hollow’s Edge is simmering。 The residents are trapped, unable to sell their homes, confronted daily by the empty Truett house, and suffocated by their trial testimonies that implicated one of their own。 Ruby Fletcher。 And now, Ruby’s back。

With her conviction overturned, Ruby waltzes right back to Hollow’s Edge, and into the home she once shared with Harper Nash。 Harper, five years older, has always treated Ruby like a wayward younger sister。 But now she’s terrified。 What possible good could come of Ruby returning to the scene of the crime? And how can she possibly turn her away, when she knows Ruby has nowhere to go?

Within days, suspicion spreads like a virus across Hollow’s Edge。 It’s increasingly clear that not everyone told the truth about the night of the Truett’s murders。 And when Harper begins receiving threatening notes, she realizes she has to uncover the truth before someone else becomes the killer’s next victim。

It is a good picture of group mind think and how it’s much simpler to just go along with the crowd than to stand out alone, which is in essence what Harper learns! One of the negatives of this story is that none of the characters are very fleshed out so I was left feeling like I didn’t care too much what anyone’s fate ended up being。 。。。more

Megan Miranda is officially an auto-buy for me! I loved this one。 The build-up was great, and I enjoyed reading about this neighborhood dynamic。 I also really enjoyed the community page blurbs, and I appreciated the single POV。 So many books now have multiple viewpoints, so it was refreshing to just have the one first-person POV。 The ending was a bit of a letdown, but I didn’t hate it。Overall, a very solid read。

I'm a big fan of Megan Miranda's writing! An interesting storyline! Lots of characters to keep track of。 My only complaint is that I felt some of the characters could have used more development and back story。 I would have liked to know more about several of them。 A satisfying ending that I really didn't see coming 。。。 Thanks to Simon & Schuster Canada for my gifted copy! 。。。more

The first half was focused a lot on Ruby and Harper - your close friend went to prison for killing someone and now she’s in your house? It made me truly ponder - what would I do? What I enjoyed most was that this seemed realistic - who wants to live in a house (or near it) where someone was killed? And how fast neighbors turn on one another? Pfft! I’ve heard so many stories of back-stabbing neighbors, (which is probably why this past 2 years we’ve seen lots of books about neighbors - we were stuck by em’ thru COVID!)Protagonist Harper was a bit of a weak lead for my taste, never taking control or even finding a voice; she’s a character who lets things happen rather than MAKING them happen。 But in the same token, I could understand her because I KNOW this person - the I’m-stuck-in-the-middle person。 I wish I could have sprinkled her with more assertiveness。 Recent neighbors-who-make-you-go-hmmm books I also liked: Suburban Dicks, The Hunting Wives, Good Neighbors (Sarah Langdon)𝗔𝗹𝗹 𝗺𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄𝘀 𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝗦𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆𝗠𝗮𝗴𝘀。𝗰𝗼𝗺 𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻。📚𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐫𝐞: Mystery/Domestic Fiction😍𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨: Oh if you wanna relish is some horrible neighbor muck。 It’s kinda fun!🙅‍♀️ 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨: if you can’t tolerate a female protagonist who is too quiet。Thank you to the author, NetGalley and Simon and Schuster for my advanced copy in exchange for my always-honest review and for making me side-eye some neighbors and making things kinda awkward。 。。。more

All it takes is one secret but many small ones combined could mean everything! Overall I would say it was ok。 I’d recommend you to pick up her other books before this one! 。。。more

Such a Quiet Place is a shocking thriller, full of suspense and twists that keeps you on your toes all the way to the final page。 The shock and twist of how the end comes about had me absolutely speechless。 All of my theories were completely off。The way it is written you feel that everyone has something to hide, and I felt the writing was done in a way to make you, the reader, start to believe a certain person was guilty and that you are in on their secret, however that is not necessarily the c Such a Quiet Place is a shocking thriller, full of suspense and twists that keeps you on your toes all the way to the final page。 The shock and twist of how the end comes about had me absolutely speechless。 All of my theories were completely off。The way it is written you feel that everyone has something to hide, and I felt the writing was done in a way to make you, the reader, start to believe a certain person was guilty and that you are in on their secret, however that is not necessarily the case。I love the miscarriage of justice trope and how it actually covers most of the characters in their own way。The map at the front of the book is so helpful! The illustrations are beautiful and the Community Message Board pages are a nice touch。I definitely recommend this book! It is one of those books that is very hard to review without giving spoilers away which would ruin the ending! 。。。more

I loved this book so much! A perfect thriller for the summer。 It was such a page turner and oh my gosh, the way the mystery unfolds is great! The book starts off slow, which is understandable as Megan Miranda sets the scene of the idyllic perfect neighborhood of Hollow’s Edge。 The perfect little town with its perfect residents。 But, not quite, there’s something going on with them。 You won’t know how to trust, everyone feels suspicious。 We get to know the residents quite a bit in the first half。 I loved this book so much!
